Sunok (Malnam) Mason (Cho), age 73, died peacefully in her home the morning of June 16, 2020 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her daughter Donna and husband Michael Timberlake. She was the loving "Hilmonie" to their daughters Olivia, Julia, and Sophia. She was also the mother of Young Mason. Sunok was born in Daegu, South Korea on January 23, 1947 to her father Su Mun Cho and mother Sun Ja Bak. She moved to America in the 1970s and eventually settled in Marshfield. She opened a convenience store in Allston that she owned for many years. In retirement, Sunok enjoyed fishing in Newport, frequently bringing home more squid, crab and fish than her buckets could carry. She also enjoyed gardening, keeping her pantry full of fresh produce she grew from her expansive garden. Sunok also was a fantastic cook, frequently found in the kitchen making anything and everything, but known for her crispy, "sweeeeeet" chicken wings and bulgogi. Later in life, she took to ballroom dancing and wowed her friends and instructors. She loved to dance and sing karaoke. Sunok was always a fixture on family vacations and made sure to bring (plenty) of fruit for the long road trips. Most of all, she loved her granddaughters, who were the light of her life. She helped to raise them into the girls they are today and she was always proud of them. Sunok came to be a Catholic late, baptized in 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas parish in Bridgewater. Sunok touched many lives and those that knew her remember her caring and giving. Interment will follow in St. Columba's Cemetery, Middletown, Rhode Island. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a limited seating capacity at the church (72 people).
