Manuel "Rui" Gomes, 58, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024 in Fall River,MA at home surrounded by family.

On December 23,1965, Manuel was born to Manuel Sr. and Maria Gomes in Fogo,Cape Verde. He was the beloved husband of Rosa Gomes. A devoted father to his children: Melanie, Manuel "Manny" Gomes Jr, Danny, Brianna, Jaelyn, and Gianna Gomes; loving grandpa to his grandchildren: Karina, Mikayla and Nevaeh Gomes; the backbone of his siblings: Arlete Araujo, Liana Barros, and Nelson Gomes. He was a proud uncle to nieces and nephews who meant the world to him; along with numerous friends, colleagues and extended family whom also held a very special place in his heart. Manuel is proceeded in death by his parents, Manuel Sr. and Maria Gomes; Sister: Tchica Gomes; Nephew: Christopher Gomes; Niece: Karina Barbosa.

Manuel was a loyal, devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with family. He also enjoyed cruising and listening to oldies, fishing, DIY home restoration projects, gardening and dancing. During his long career at Stop & Shop Distribution Center he gained a work family, who admired and respected his hard work ethic.

Manuel fought his battle against ALS fearlessly. Despite spending much of that time confined at home, he never lost his sense of humor. Throughout his entire journey, he joked around with his children, made silly faces with all the children who came to visit, and even pulled some light-hearted pranks on his wife. He had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humor will be missed. From the family-We are so grateful and touched for all the love and support we've received during this time. Visitation will be held at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont Street, Brockton, on Saturday November 2nd from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with his funeral service at the funeral home beginning at 11 a.m. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, 163 North Cary Street, Brockton.
