Manuel A. Pires
Manuel Pires, "Manny", of Hobe Sound, Florida and formerly of North Easton and Brockton, better known as 'Pope', left his earthly paradise of Hobe Sound, Florida on Friday, January 29, 2010, surrounded by his devoted and loving children, Cindy Carroll, Cheryl Elms, and Eddie, John Joseph "Boe" Pires by his side.
Manny was born and grew up in North Easton, Mass. He was married to Aggie (Cassidy) Pires and raised his family while working as Building Inspector and Superintendent of Buildings for the City of Brockton for more than 30 years. He was also a proud U.S. Navy veteran.
Manny was a very sociable, honorable, man of integrity, funny and witty man , loved family gatherings , cooking (family recipes) handicapping the ponies, playing cards with his many friends and family , the ocean and traveling. He never wanted to let go of the fun side of life.
Manny leaves a large family beginning with his brother and 'buddy' John Pires of Easton, his sister Virginia Broadhurst of Acushnet, Mass., his grandchildren, Heather, Carlyn , Jamie, Pamela, Cayce , Ryan, Michael, Erica, Dylan, Savina and Jimmy and eight great grandchildren along with many devoted nieces and nephews.
Manny is being reunited with his late wife, Aggie (lovingly referred to as "the war department"), his brothers, Tony, Alex and Joe, sister Mary, sons Tommy and Jimmy, along with many dear friends that have gone before him.

Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Saturday, February 6th at 10:00AM thence to Immaculate Conception Church, 193 North Main St., North Easton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 11:00AM. Private cremation to follow. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Friday 4:00-8:00PM.
