Obituary

Margaret E. (Lyons) Benoit age 100 years of Brockton died on Easter Sunday after a period of failing. She was the wife of the late Walter Benoit. Margaret was born and raised in New Bedford a daughter of the late James and Julia (Kearns) Lyons.

In 1960, Margaret moved to Brockton. For many years she was a bookkeeper at Walkover Shoe and retired after 45 years of service. She had worked together with her friend Theresa Lamy all that time.

Margaret enjoyed camping with her family, volunteer work at St. Margaret bingo, singing in the choir and servicing dinner at the Guardian Center. She will be remembered as being a quiet lady who would do anything to help you.

Margaret was the devoted mother of Jeffrey Benoit of Brockton and grandmother of Nicholas Benoit, Seth Benoit and Edward Benoit in addition to two great grandchildren Aliki Benoit and Rory Quinn. She was the sister of Theresa Wetzel of Dartmouth and the late John Lyons, William Lyons, James Lyons, Jr., Veronica Lyons, and Julia Escarbar.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St, Brockton on Monday April 8, at 9:30am followed by a Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Burial at St. Mary Cemetery in New Bedford. Visitation will be held on Sunday April 7 from 2-5 pm.
