Obituary

Margaret Emily Kennedy, age 99, died peacefully on January 13, 2018 at St. Joseph's Manor, Brockton. Miss Kennedy was born in Taunton, Massachusetts on April 27, 1918. Raised in Lakeville, Margaret was the daughter of the late Robert Andrew Kennedy and the late Susan Margaret (Martin) Kennedy. Margaret, who spent her career as a public servant for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, was embraced in love by her parents, siblings and aunts, especially her Aunt Emily Martin. She was a gifted student who graduated from Middleboro High School and attended the Boston School of Occupational Therapy. She was a distinguished, quiet, and gentle woman who loved her God, family and Church. She received much joy in nature and the arts. Her talents were many, including her remarkable ability with paintbrush and pen. Margaret's water color paintings reflected and captured the intrinsic beauty of birds, flowers and landscapes. Her elegant writings catalogued her devotion to and the fascinating lives of her siblings and parents. Margaret was simply a lovely, reserved lady who cared deeply for all God's creations. Her years of volunteering at the Mission Church provided comfort and solace for those who were marginalized and less fortunate in this "sometimes weary world…" She is survived by her devoted nieces Margaret Anne Kennedy Thibault (Thomas) of Indianapolis, Indiana and Corinne Marie Kennedy of Quincy, Massachusetts, as well as her attentive nephews William T. Kennedy (Cathy) of Quincy and Richard Martin Kennedy (Florrie) of Washington, DC. In addition, she is survived by her nieces Mary Kennedy Bardsley (Michael Bardsley, deceased) of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada and Susan Kennedy Astone (Joseph) of Nashua, New Hampshire. Margaret also leaves her dedicated cousin Rosemary Martin Smith and many other cousins. She leaves grand-nieces and nephews and great grand-nieces and nephews, all of whom provided her with great delight and pride. Margaret is predeceased by her beloved parents, sister Gertrude Eleanor Kennedy, brothers Robert Andrew Kennedy Jr. (Mary Cruise Kennedy), William Thomas Kennedy (Isabelle Bronski) and Maurice Joseph Kennedy (Elaine Woods) and her loving and faithful nephew Senator Thomas Patrick Kennedy (Clare Holmgren), supportive nephew Robert Andrew Kennedy III (Linda Simmons), dear nephew David Joseph Kennedy and grand nephews, Joseph Kennedy Astone, Michael Andrew Thibault and great grand-nephew William Michael Bardsley. The Kennedy family would like to acknowledge the exceptional, loving care given by Nurse Jessie Morales…… and express appreciation to the entire nursing and pastoral staff of St. Joseph's Manor.
