Obituary

Margaret K. “Pegge” (McKiernan) Roan age 88 of Mashpee, died Thursday September 26, 2013 at the Tremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wareham after a period of failing health. She was the wife of Robert W. Roan for 70 years. Pegge was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Burns) McKiernan and was a 1943 graduate of Brockton High School. She had lived in Brockton for many years before moving to N. Falmouth in 1974. In recent years she had resided in Mashpee.

Pegge was a stay at home mother who loved to bake, entertain and take trips to Ireland and Las Vegas. She had also worked part-time with her brother John, at JJ McKays Restaurant in Wayland.

Pegge was the mother of Kathryn Wemett of E. Falmouth, Stephen Roan and his wife Anne and Paul Roan both of Brockton and the late Mark Roan. She leaves 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John McKiernan, Eileen Freer, Mildred Tullie and Barbara McKiernan.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 10:30 am preceded by visitation from 9 to
10:30 am. Burial in the Mass National Cemetery, in Bourne at 12:45pm. In lieu of flowers please, consider donations in Pegge’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association of MA/NH, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
