Maria M. (Teixeira) Almeida, 74, of West Bridgewater passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024 after a period of failing health at the Baypointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton. She was the wife of Gabriel S. Almeida.

Born July 15, 1949 in Vila Franca do Campo, Sao Miguel, Acores. She was the daughter of the late Dinis and Maria Do Carmo Guerreiro Teixeira.

She emigrated to the US in 1987, finally settling in West Bridgewater MA, where along with her husband and family, owned and operated Daybreak Family Restaurant for the past 30 years.

Maria Madalena adored her children, but the light of her life was her 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren who she would talk about to anyone who would listen, and additionally her four extended granddaughters Cassie, Michaela, Nicole and Lindsy who she considered her own. She was strong-willed, she enjoyed spending quality time with her large extended family, hosting holiday gatherings at her home. She enjoyed shopping trips and long car rides, Sunday Dinners with her husband at many local Portuguese restaurants, Christmas, flowers, the beach, and her Portuguese Soap Operas. She also cherished having her grandchildren for sleepovers and taking rides to New Bedford for ice cream.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her children; Paulo Almeida and Daniella Almeida of Pembroke NH, Gabriel Almeida and Angie Almeida of Taunton MA, Marcia Burke of Raynham MA, Marco Almeida and Kristen Almeida of Brockton MA and  Maria Almeida and Matt Jones of West Bridgewater MA; her grandchildren, Paul Almeida Jr., Vanessa Almeida, Luciana Almeida, Cody Almeida, Tobey Almeida, Catarina Burke, Isabel Burke, Robert Almeida, Alex Almeida and Mathew Almeida; great grandchildren, Ellie Cisneros and Easton Cisneros; her siblings, Zeca Teixeira of Vila Franca do Campo, Sao Miguel Acores, Dinis Teixeira of Paris, France, Mario Teixeira of Montreal Canada and Joao Teixeira of Villa Franca do Campo; former mother in law of Jim Burke of Lakeville. She was predeceased by her former daughter in law Rachel Almeida.

The family would like to thank her medical care team, especially the staff at South Shore Hospital and AdviniaCare Baypointe.

Public calling hours will be held on Monday from 4:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services and interment will be private. In leu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/The Jimmy Fund, or an Alzeimer's research charity of your choice.
