Maria Fernandes Alves Maria Fernandes Alves , 73, of Brockton died Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was the wife of Benjamim Alves. Born November 28, 1933 in Mosteiros, Fogo, Cape Verde, she was the daughter of the late Jaime Rodriques and Ana Fernandes. She had been a Brockton resident for the last 13 years. She was a communicant of St. Edith Stein Parish. She enjoyed praying and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Alves of Brockton; her children, Amelia Fernandes, Jaime Alves Andrade, Mauel Alves Andrade, Raul Alves Andrade, Ana Andrade Lopes, Luis Alves Andrade, Maria Alves Andrade, Ana Paula Alves Andrade, Monica Fernandes Alves, Zezito Fernandes Alves; she is also surived by 30 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte 123), Brockton on Monday, July 9th at 9:00AM followed a funeral mass in St. Edith Stein Paris/St. Edwards Church at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours Sunday in the Russell Pica Funeral Home 2:00PM-4:00PM and 7:00PM-9:00PM.
