Maria F. Bates Maria F. Bates , 54, of Brockton died Monday, June 25, 2007 at the Brockton Hospital. Born April 9, 1953 in Fogo, Cape Verde, she was the daughter of Alberto Andrade and Catrina (Fernandes) Andrade. She has been a resident of Brockton for the last 18 years. She worked at Kitchen Farms for 6 years. She was a communicant of St. Edith Stein parish. She enjoyed cooking. She is survived by her children, Sandra Pires and Sandro Pires, both of Brockton, Maria Zamy Pires and Andimar Antonio Pires, both of Cape Verde; her parents, Alberto Andrade and Catrina (Fernandes) Andrade, both of Cape Verde; her siblings, Matilda Fernandes, Guneveva Oliveira, Alberto Andreade, Ines Monteiro, Albertina Perez, Rosa Cabral, Maria Jesus Fernandes, Edil F. Fernandes, Alberto Gomes, Lino Gomes, Mindela Gomes Alves, Rose Gomes Alves, Jose Teixeira; she is also survived by seven grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton on Saturday, July 7th at 8:00AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Edith Stein Parish/St. Edwards Church, 71 East Main St., Brockton at 9:00AM.
