Online Obituaries Maria F. do Canto, 53, of Brockton, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Boston Medical Center in Boston after a courageous 9 year battle with cancer. She was the wife of Quirino do Canto. Born August 14, 1959 in Fogo, Cape Verde she was a daughter of Isabella (Rodrigues) Barbosa and the late Adalberto Barbosa. Maria was a resident of Brockton for the last 30 years. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting, but most of all she loved being a grandmother and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Quirino do Canto; her children, Francisco "Frankie" do Canto, Joline do Canto and Carina do Canto all of Brockton; her grandchildren, Jaren, Jaylen, Jolisa and Jayce; her mother Isabella (Rodrigues) Barbosa; her siblings, Antonio Andrade, Ana Veiga, Joao Andrade and Lurdes Andrade. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
