Maria Ribeiro, 87, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at her home in Brockton surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Filipe Jose Marcelino. Born in Figueira Pavao, Fogo, Cape Verde on February 22, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Henrique and Guilhermina (Monteiro) Ribeiro. Maria enjoyed caring for her family and was a very generous person. One of her favorite places to visit was a restaurant in Cidade Velha in Praia where she could enjoy the ocean breeze while having a cold drink and lunch. She also enjoyed having her hair, nails, and makeup done. She was the matriarch of the family. In addition to her husband, Maria is survived by her six children Ines Andrade DePina, Jose Marcelino, Antonio Marcelino, Maria Marcelino, Arthur Marcelino and Pedro Marcelino; 22 grandchildren, 10 great-granchildren; and 14 siblings. Calling hours will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt.123) Brockton on Tuesday, December 29th from 10:00-11:30 AM, followed by a funeral mass in St. Edith Stein Parish at 12:00 PM. Interment to follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
