Maria Parise, 90, formerly of Brockton and Hyannis, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 13, 2019 at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing Center in Westborough.
Born July 29th, 1928 in Gasperina Italy, she was the widow of Vincenzo Parise; the mother of the late Rosemary Parise of Brockton and Hyannis; Michael Parise of Westborough; and Betty (Parise) Mattimore of Ashburn, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Giuseppe CeliaMagno and the late Elisa (Macrina) CeliaMagno.
Maria grew up in a large loving family in Gasperina, Italy that fostered a strong closeness with her many brothers and sisters. She left Italy in 1957 along with her daughter and son to join her husband in the United States who had preceded them to the U.S. three years earlier. First settling in Somerville, MA and later Brockton, MA, Maria was an extraordinary cook and a very talented seamstress, often responsible for making clothing samples for designers. She was a shining example of living for the love of her family which was never more evident than when she was surrounded by her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Michael Parise and his wife Janice (Maciel) Parise of Westborough; her daughter, Betty (Parise) Mattimore and her husband Brendan Mattimore of Ashburn, Virginia; her grandchildren, Dan Parise (wife Leigh & daughters Camryn and Harper), Brian Parise, Andrew Parise (wife Julia and son Leo), Kevin Parise (wife Victoria), Grace Mattimore, Caroline Mattimore, and Jack Mattimore. Her surviving brothers and sisters in Italy include Enzo and Bruno CeliaMagno, Ida and Anna CeliaMagno, and Franca (CeliaMagno) Anania. Her deceased siblings were Saverio CeliaMagno, Titina (CeliaMagno) DePace, and Peppino CeliaMagno. She leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and their families.
Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Saturday, January 19th at 9:00AM thence to St, Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish, 71 East Main Street, Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in the Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00PM-7:00PM.
