Online Obituaries Maria Albina Fresco Gafanhao Rocha, 67, of Brockton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Brigham Women's Hospital, Boston. She was the wife of the late Mario A.T. Rocha. Born August 27, 1945 in Ilhavo, Portugal she was a daughter of the late Jose Marques Gafanhao and Laurinda Vidreida Fresco. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brockton. Maria retired from the Gillette Company in 2003 after 30 years. She was known as "Avo" (Grandmother in Portuguese) throughout the Brockton Community. She enjoyed traveling to Portugal to visit family and friends along with her pilgrimages to Our Lady of Fatima. Maria was always instilling her strong religious faith. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting and knitting. She was most proud of her grandchildren, always attending their events. But most of all she enjoyed cooking for her friends and family. She is survived by her son, Mario G. Rocha and his wife Denise L. Rocha of Brockton. She was the grandmother "Avo", of Joseph, Evan, Laurinda and Gavin Rocha. She was the sister of Jose and Isaura Gafanhao, Rosa and Mario Rocha, Marta and Antonio Ferreira all of Portugal, Lucia Lopes of Fall River and Isabel and Manuel Miranda of Brockton. She was the sister in law of Manuel and Judy Rocha of Randolph. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late Maria L. and John Vilela. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt.123) Brockton, on Monday, May 20, at 9:30AM thence to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 439 West St., Brockton where a funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the funeral home Sunday 2-6PM.
