Maria (Giardini) Silvestrino Maria (Giardini) Silvestrino , 93, of Brockton, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was the wife of the late Cosmino (Cuzzy) A. Silvestrino. Born August 24, 1916 in Capestrano, Province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale Giardini and Giovanna (D'Innocenza) Giardini. Mrs. Silvestrino was a Brockton resident since 1954 after emigrating from Italy via Montreal where she lived with her brother Wildo and married her first husband James Giovenello. Maria had worked part-time for the Brockton Enterprise. She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Brockton. Maria enjoyed her Italian roots always relating stories about her youth and numerous relatives. She was very prim and proper, loved to wear the latest fashions and always had her hair just right, enjoyed cooking and visiting with her extended family especially during the summer months at their cottage that Cuzzy and her kept on Buzzards Bay in Wareham, Ma. Besides her parents and husbands, Maria was predeceased by two brothers, Wildo and Peter Giardini, three half brothers Giuseppe, Ettore and Alfred Corsi and a half sister Ida Egizi. Maria will be missed by her sister-in-laws Elia Giardini of Montreal, Anna Giardini of Capestrano and Maria Corsi of Connecticut. She is survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy and the United States, including Wildo Giaridini Jr.and Alba Joe Amato of Quebec; Linda Kokinis, Josephine Roy Bergeron and Nicola Noreen Corsi of Connecticut. The family would like to especially thank Gloria McDonald of Brockton for all the support and help she has provided to Maria during the past years. Our thanks also go out to the nurses and staff of West Acres Home for their compassion and care of Maria. Funeral Information Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Monday morning, October 19th 8:30-10:30AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 335 Main St., Brockton at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
