Online Obituaries Marie J. (Joyce) Bates, 86, of Raynham and formerly of Mashpee and Brockton, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Morton Hospital. She was the wife of Herbert F. Bates. Born September 18, 1930 in Roslindale, she was the daughter of the late John J. Joyce and Sarah (Flynn) Joyce. Raised in Roslindale and West Roxbury she graduated from Roslindale High School and attended Boston University. Marie was a retired Executive Secretary. She had worked for Pacific Mills and United Community Services. She enjoyed music, art and crafts and interior design work. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Herbert F. Bates; her children, Joyce E. Bates and her spouse Donna Goneau of Beverly and David F. Bates and his wife Reena of Easton; her grandchildren, Matthew and Abigail Bates. She was the sister of the late John Joyce, Helen Mulvee and Robert Joyce. Funeral Information A funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul on Monday, December 5th at 10:00AM in Holy Cross Church, 225 Purchase St., Easton. Private interment will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Private calling hours.
