Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Marion Winifred (Brasill) Kelliher. She passed away on the evening of August 26, 2024 under the care of Old Colony Hospice & Palliative Care at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton surrounded by family following a brief period of failing health. She was the dedicated and loving wife of the late John F. Kelliher for 53 years.

Born in Brockton in 1937, Marion was the daughter of the late Paul S. and Josephine (Gorman) Brasill, and was a proud lifelong resident of the city. She was a graduate of Brockton High School and attended the Brockton Business School.

Marion was a faithful member of her church. She was a long time member of the Brockton Garden Club, and genuinely enjoyed working outdoors whenever possible. She had a love of baking, particularly cookies and blueberry muffins, often making more than her family could consume, and friends, guests, and the Easton fire department regularly benefited from the excess. Her father and brother ignited an interest with cars that she carried with her throughout her life. She also enjoyed knitting, Swedish weaving, making braided rugs, and other crafts. Truly though, her passion and pride were hearing about and participating in the accomplishments, achievements, and adventures of her family. She cherished these moments and was actively involved in celebrating each milestone with them.

Marion started her professional career at Van Dam Oldsmobile prior to joining the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company. Soon after her marriage to John, she took a career break to perform her most important and rewarding role of having and raising her family. After a number of years, she re-entered the workforce as the office manager at the North Main Street Veterinary Clinic. She eventually left to pursue her true professional calling as a Realtor for 30 plus years with Weichert Realtors – Briarwood Real Estate (now Lamacchia Realty Easton) earning numerous high performance awards.

Left to cherish Marion's memory are her children: Sean and his wife, Louanne of West Bridgewater, Kevin and his wife, Abby of Quincy, Noreen and her husband, Mark Zachem of South Easton, and Jerome and his partner, Dana Marie Berntsen of Annapolis, MD. Nana, as she was known by her grandchildren, will be greatly missed by Grace, Charlotte, Liam, Keith, and Christine; they were a great source of joy and pride to her. Marion was the sister and best friend of June Brasill of Brockton. Marion is also survived by her in-laws, Margaree Brasill, Dr. Melvin Haddad, and Richard and Janice Kelliher, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Arthur P. Brasill, Sr., the sister-in-law of the late Dr. James and Catherine Donnelly, Raymond and Dorothy Kelliher, and Maryrose Haddad, and the former mother-in-law of the late Fern MacDonald.

She will be forever missed and remembered.
