Obituary

Mary Ann Calitri, 80, of Raynham, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the Colony Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Abington. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, July 21st at 11:00am in Calvary Cemetery, 163 N Cary St., Brockton Ma 02302. A Remembrance for Mary Ann Calitri Laughter, that's what I hear in my head when I think of Mary Ann, her laugh. It was contagious. I was privileged to be invited to her annual Christmas parties. I'm sure she planned the menu for months. Note to oneself, do not get on the scale the day after her party. What I noticed was the same group of friends always there, year after year. That same group of friends were there until the end. That says a lot about her character. Even with her physical challenges her independence was so important. I thought Mary Ann was one of the bravest people I knew. I would tell her that and she would laugh and say no I'm not. You could do this too. I would say, no Mary Ann, I couldn't. I once brought a friend over for a visit. She lived alone and had just finished chemotherapy and was having a hard time. I told her I wanted her to meet someone that might make her feel stronger. We spent the afternoon with Mary Ann and my friend left saying that she felt so much better. Mary Ann was inspiring. She loved beagles. Through the years she never had a different breed. Although occasionally you might see a chihuahua in between her feet hitching a ride through the house. Her dogs were her companions and her comfort. I know she talked to them a lot. She told me she did. I'm sure there were days they got an earful. When one of my dogs passed, she cried. She gave me an angel dog at Christmas, then I cried. She loved all animals and would have had an animal sanctuary if it had been possible. Mary Ann was a courageous, caring and a thoughtful person. She surrounded herself with the people and the belongings that made her happy. She lived her life and made the best of it. We all have stories of Mary Ann and wonderful memories. She will be missed and always remembered. -Lisa (Augenti) Jackson, Mary Ann's Cousin
