Obituary

Mary E. (Kelly) Murphy,70 years, of Brockton died unexpectedly Wednesday December 9, 2009 at Signature Healthcare/Brockton Hospital. She was the loving wife of John J. “Jack” Murphy for 50 years. Mary was born in Brockton a daughter of the late Gertrude A. (Curtin) and Brockton Deputy Fire Chief John F. Kelly. She remained a lifelong resident of the city and was a 1957 graduate of Brockton High School.
In 1995 Mary retired from Northrup Inc. in Norwood. She was an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed bowling and playing golf at Heritage Hills Country Club. She was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed reading. Mary most importantly enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter Kathleen Langton and her husband Edward of Brockton and her son John J. Murphy, Jr. of Tampa, Florida. She was the grandmother of Michael, Kylie, Kristin and Katelyn. Mary was the sister of Daniel C. Kelly of Somersworth, NH; Robert E. Kelly of Punta Gorda, FL; Gertrude A. Kelly and William J. Kelly both of Brockton; Anne F. Manning of Bridgewater; John F. Kelly of Holbrook and James P. Kelly of Brockton. She also leaves several aunts, uncles and cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Christ the King/ St. Colman Parish at 9 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday 3-7 pm.
