Obituary

PIERCE most recently of Quincy Feb. 6, 2002, Mary (Magliozzi) Pierce 94 years. Wife of the late Arthur Sawin Pierce. Loving and devoted mother of Linda Pierce-Furtado and her husband Howard C. “Charlie” Furtado of Brockton.

Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass Saturday at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Lourdes Church 439 West St. Brockton. Burial to follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Visiting hours are omitted. Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to The Last Resort, 1126 Broadway, Hanover, MA 02339 or to the charity of one’s choice. Mary will be remembered as a quality person; very loyal, fair and compassionate. Arrangements by the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, Brockton.

Mrs. Pierce died Wednesday evening at BayPointe Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility in Brockton.Mrs. Pierce was born in Gaeta, Italy daughter of the late Salvatore and Nunziata (Venerella) Magliozzi and came to the United States as a young girl. She was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School Class of 1926. When she married she moved to Lexington and a few years later moved to Scituate. For the past 20 years she had been a resident of 1000 Southern Artery in Quincy.

As a young woman Mary had worked at Tube Works in Somerville and retired from Fiduciary Trust in Boston.She enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking and braiding rugs. She also enjoyed playing bridge and antiquing.Mary will be remembered as a quality person; very loyal, fair and compassionate.

She was the wife of the late Arthur Sawin Pierce and mother of Linda Pierce-Furtado of Brockton.She is also survived by a brother Francis N. Magliozzi of Falls Church, VA and several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Angela Ryan and Anthony Magliozzi.
