July 16, 1948 – June 24, 2023
Mary V. (Powell) Macaluso was born on July 16, 1948 in Flint, Michigan. She was the fourth child of 14 children raised by her mother, Barbara (Miller) Powell and her father, Clayton Harold Powell. Mary met her husband of 50 years, Stephen Macaluso in 1971. The two were married in 1973. Steve describes Mary as a faithful, loving, dedicated and beautiful wife.
Mary was known for her love of her God Jehovah and made a public declaration by water baptism to serve and proclaim the kingdom of her creator as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on October 2, 1977. She was a faithful student of the Bible and a zealous minister. Mary was always eager to share her knowledge about the Truth with others. Mary dedicated herself to helping people learn the Bible truths. She assisted many in developing a love for Jehovah and his word the Bible.
Mary always had a warm smile that radiated love and compassion. She liked to build people up with positive thoughts. She was always there to help others. Mary was a cherished and loyal friend to many. She enjoyed kayaking, gardening, walks, taking the congregation kids to fun places, and spending time with her friends and family. Most of all, she loved discussing the hope of the future found in the inspired words of the Bible.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Stephen (Steve) Macaluso; Daughters: Joy Silva, Kara (Joel) Naticchioni; Grandchildren: Matthew and Kayla Silva; Sisters:Kathaleen (Powell) Wiggins, Wolcott, NY, Joyce Aulenbacher, Penfield, NY; Mardy Farrier, Rochester, NY; Frei Donoghue, Rochester NY; Dorothy (Arthur) Barber, Sodus NY, Ruth Ann (Michael) McGee, St. Edward, NE. Brothers: Clayton Howard (Judy) Powell, Richmond, VA; Michael (Mary) Powell, Alton, NY. Sister-in-Laws: Susan Powell and Lucile Powell. She is predeceased by her parents Barbara (Miller) Powell and her father, Clayton Harold Powell, her sister Helen, and her brothers David, John, Dennis, and Bruce Powell.
Despite facing many challenges in her life, Mary remained resilient and persevered through it all. Mary was a fighter till the end, and her unwavering faith in Jehovah was an inspiration to us all. Mary will also be missed by her many friends and her spiritual brothers and sisters who look forward to the fulfillment of Revelation 21:4:
"And [God] will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor out cry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.
Funeral Services at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 329 East Ashland Street Brockton, MA 02302 on Saturday, July 15th at 11:00AM. The funeral reception will be held at VFW Brockton, Post 1046, 283 North Quincy Street, Brockton, MA 02302.
