Mary L. (Ferrini) Pelaggi
, 88, of Avon, passed away Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a brief illness. She was the wife of Louis Dominic Pelaggi.
Born May 29, 1922 in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore Ferrini and Teresa (Perry) Ferrini. Mrs. Pelaggi was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School and Brockton Business College. During WWII, Mrs. Pelaggi received a civil service appointment as a secretary in the U.S. Navy Dept. in Washington, D.C.
She also volunteered with the Red Cross during that time. She later transferred to the Naval Air Station at Quonset Point, R.I. From that position, she accepted an offer to work as secretary to the Supply and Equipment Office at the 1st Navy District in Boston. After beginning her family, she was a homemaker devoting the rest of her life to her husband, her children, her church and her community.
She has been a resident of Avon and a member of St. Michael's Church since 1955. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality and served as past Prefect and was a Eucharistic minister until 2001. Mrs. Pelaggi was a past member of the choir as well. She also enjoyed her longtime membership in the Friar's Club at Westgate Chapel in Brockton.
She loved her flower gardens and spending time at the ocean. She enjoyed taking trips, dancing, and listening to her husband play his guitar. She chose a life of service to others as her way of thanking God for her many blessing in life.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Pelaggi of Avon; her 5 children, Marianne Baird and her husband George of Plymouth, Teresa Mitchell and her husband Daniel of Brockton, Louis Pelaggi, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Raynham, Christine Parkinson and her husband Ronald of Avon and Mary-Lou Shea and her husband Dennis of Raynham; she is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ralph Ferrini and Gemma Hall Guilmette.

Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Wednesday, December 15th at 9:00AM thence to St. Michael Church, 87 North Main St., Avon where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Tuesday 4:00-8:00PM.
