Obituary

Mary R. (Bennett) Toomey, age 91, of Brockton, died peacefully at her home on April 20, 2022. She was the loving wife for 63 years of the late William F. Toomey. Mary was born and raised in Stoughton, a daughter of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Frost) Bennett. Mary was a 1948 graduate of Stoughton High School and lived in Brockton for the past 65 years.

Mary was a stay at home mother devoted to her family and home. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who placed her family and church first.

Mary is survived by her children William F. Toomey, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Quincy; Stephen J. Toomey of Nashua, NH; Michael E. Toomey of Brockton; Kathleen Karalus and her husband William of Middleboro and Mary Hennessey and her husband James of Brockton. She was the grandmother of Megan, James, Christian, William, Phillip, Kelly, Samantha, Jonathan, Bryan, Amy, Victoria and Maxwell and great grandmother of Lyla and Emilia. She also leaves a brother John Bennett and his wife Louise of Brockton.

Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton, Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 9-10am. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30 am, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
