Mary (Theofilou) Xixis
, 78, of Whitestone, New York, passed away on Friday, July 30 2010 under the care of hospice and her family at her son's home in Scituate, Massachusetts. She was the loving wife of Thanos Xixis.
Born June 11, 1932 in Piraeus, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Eleftherios Theofilou and Sophia (Totos) Theofilou. Mrs. Xixis received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Simmons College in Boston.
Mary was a Registered Dietician and later, a homemaker devoted to her family and home. She was a resident of Whitestone, New York for over 45 years and was a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Flushing, New York.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Thanos Xixis; her dearest children, George Xixis and his wife Nina (Liapopoulos) of Scituate and Sophia Konidas and her husband Peter of Edmonton, Canada; her adoring grandchildren, Zoe Xixis, Ioanna Konidas and Thanasi Konidas; her sister-in-law, Maria Theofilou; her nephews, Terry and Bill Theofilou. She was the sister of the late George Theofilou.
Funeral Information
Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt 123) Brockton on Wednesday, August 4th at 10:00AM followed by a funeral service in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Tuesday 4:00-8:00PM.
