Obituary

Matthew “Big Matt” Gardner, Sr. died Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center after a period of failing health. Matt was the loving husband of Susan J. (Julian) Gardner. Matt was born on October 5, 1945 and raised in McCormick, South Carolina, a son of the late Charles and Mary (Harper) Gardner and had lived in Massachusetts since 1964.

Matthew will be remembered as a man whose life revolved around his family and work. He was the founder and owner of All Clean Auto Detailing in Stoughton for over 25 years. He was a car enthusiast and big sports fan. He also enjoyed watching cooking shows.

In addition to his wife Susan, Matt leaves his four children Thomas McCier of Brockton, Thomasina Jackson of Greenwood, SC, Prendee Wint and her husband Alfonso of Brockton and Matthew Gardner, Jr. and his wife Danielle of Brockton. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was the brother of Rosa Lee Smith of Abbeville, SC and the late Edward Gardner, Charles Gardner Jr., Robert Gardner, John Gardner, James Gardner, Louise Marshall, Mary Jenkins, Elizabeth Bowie, Vera Norman and Verna Williams.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton on Thursday 5-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11 am followed by burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
