Melvin C. Hammond (Mel), 81, of Raynham Mass, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Born July 26, 1940, in Easton (EastonDale), Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Charles and Ruth Hammond. Mel was very proud of his service to his country as he served in the Army for a few years during the Vietnam era reaching rank of PFC. Mel was in Transportation most of his career, and worked for some time at the Quincy Ship yard. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He greatly enjoyed camping and fishing in his earlier years, and telling them dry dad jokes that you had to laugh at. Mel will be greatly missed by many but never forgotten. Mel was the loving father to, Lisaann Hammond, Michelle M. Grushkin and Paul A. Hammond and his wife Gina; dear grandfather to, Michael, Rose, Crystal, John, Alyssa, Kenny, Nicole, Angel and Lillyann; two Great-Grandchildren Jacob and Izzy. He is also survived by his brothers Charles and wife Susan and Lewis Hammond. Preceded in death by his brother Alan Hammond. He was the Father-in-law of Paul D. Grushkin. He also leaves behind his best friend, his dog Finley Services will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., Brockton on Monday, Nov 15th from 11:00-1:00PM followed by a Funeral at 2:15 PM in The Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
