Obituary

Meredith J. “Bootsy” (Shave) Gassett, age 87 of Brockton, died Wednesday December 24, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Brockton, a daughter of the late Lewis and Ruth (MacLeod) Shave and lived on Pearl Street her entire life.
A graduate of Brockton High School, Meredith worked for many years in the cafeteria of the Hancock Elementary School. In her free time, she enjoyed walking in the woods and reading. Meredith will be remembered as a kind and gentle woman who enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Meredith was the mother of Kenneth Gassett of Brockton, John Gassett and his wife Jacqueline of New York, Sarah Gassett of Brockton and Rachel Thibeault of Brockton, wife of the late Guy Thibeault. She leaves four grandchildren Aaron Thibeault and his wife Liz, Zachary Thibeault and his wife Candace, David Gassett and Peter Gassett. She was the great grandmother of Adeline Thibeault. Meredith was the sister of Robert Shave of Hanson, Nancy Wigley of Woods Hole, David Shave of Florida, Paul Shave of Belize. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday in Melrose Cemetery, 88 N. Pearl Street at 10 am. Visiting hours are omitted.
