Meredith L. (Bangs) Pope of Middleboro MA, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at the Hannah B. Shaw long term care facility. Meredith was the daughter of the late Albert and Audrey( Bisbee) Bangs.

Meredith was a Brockton High School graduate of the class of 1951 and the Co-owner of the Home Cafe in Brockton. Meredith and her former husband David W. Pope Jr. raised their seven children in Brockton and enjoyed summering at Humarock Beach in Scituate, MA. Meredith had quite the style and flair. She was an artist that had a keen eye for interior design, floral arrangements, and painting. Meredith loved shopping; her wardrobe was always something she took pride in. She exceeded herself hosting the holidays for her family and friends and always extended an invite to those who were less fortunate. Prior to retirement Meredith worked for the Department of Corrections at the State Hospital in Bridgewater, MA. Meredith enjoyed the beach, a good dive bar, as well the finest of restaurants. She enjoyed traveling to Europe, Mexico, Panama, and also visiting friends and family in the US. Meredith spent the last few years at Hannah B. Shaw home in Middleboro participating in activities, she was especially fond of bingo and playing cards with her daughters.

Meredith is survived by her five daughters, Catherine Leger and her husband Denis of DE, Dorothy Pope of DE, Mary Towle and her husband Gerry of Taunton MA, Margie Tufts of Bridgewater MA, and Martha Pope Ingram of Bridgewater, MA. Several grandchildren Phillip and Gregory Leger, Ryan and Julianne Tufts, Lauren and Kelsey Towle, Meghan Gentile, and Nathan Ingram. Meredith was also a great grandmother to Elsie Grace and Lucy Anne Leger as well as her loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by David W. Pope Jr, her son's David W. Pope lll, and Patrick D. Pope, sister Beverly (Bangs) Perkins, brother Albert Bangs and survived by sister in-law Pam Bangs, brother in-law and his wife William and Judy Pope.

Following cremation, a memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, December 3rd in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 S. Main St., (Rt.28) West Bridgewater from 4:00-7:00 PM. Funeral from the funeral home on Monday, December 4th at 9:00 AM thence to St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 103 Center St., Bridgewater where a memorial mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
