Merle W. Mellman Merle W. Mellman , 84, of Brockton, died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He was the former husband of the late Mary I. (Kabotie) Mellman. Born January 23, 1925 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Walter W. Mellman and Maude (Farr) Mellman. Raised in Brockton he attended Brockton Schools. Merle was a Disabled American Veteran after serving in the United States Army in the Pacific during World War II. Merle was a retired carpenter. He was a member of the American Legion Post #35 in Brockton and a life member of the VFW #1046 in Brockton. He is survived by his stepchildren, Elizabeth J. Gillette of East Taunton, Richard C. Berg of Brockton, and Edward J. Berg of Holbrook; he is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the brother of the late Helen Lessard, Mildred Hooper, Milton W. Mellman and Bernice Mceachern. Funeral Information A graveside service will be held in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne on Monday at 1:00PM.
