Mesmin Lecoin, 54, of West Bridgewater, a dedicated educator at Dedham Middle School, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
He was the loving husband of Martine Albama Lecoin and a devoted father to his children, Noema, Christopher, and Gaelle, who brought immense joy to his life.
Born in Anse Rouge, Haiti, on December 17, 1970, Mesmin was the cherished son of the late Francois Roland Lecoin and Gigie "Gigi" Metayer. Mesmin had a lifelong love for history; he was fascinated by the past and how it shaped the present. A sports enthusiast gifted with a remarkable sense of style, he stood out, not just for his love for fashion, but for the positivity he radiated.
Mesmin's life embodied love, intellect, humility, and the sheer joy of living.
He is survived by his beloved wife and life partner, Martine; his cherished children, Noema, Christopher, and Gaelle; his close-knit siblings, Florida Edouard, Jasnite Edouard, and Ronique Metayer; his adored niece, Senayah Metayer; his mother-in-law, AnneMarie Castor; siblings-in-law, Michael Albama, Faranaze Jeudy, Stanley Jeudy, and Roann Augustin; and countless cousins and friends.
Mesmin's wife and children would like to extend their sincere words of gratitude to the families that have been dearest to them: Metayer, Edouard, Lecoin, Chery, Valcin, Auguste, Joseph, Arthus, Magloire, Teleau, Dorilas, Dalton, Antoine, Eugene, Nicolas, Thomas, Guerrier, Innocent, Lacrette, Rouzard, Lubin, and others.
Mesmin's passing is a profound loss, felt deeply by those who were fortunate enough to know him. Mesmin will be remembered and missed by extended family, countless friends, colleagues, and students whose lives were touched by his kindness, generosity, and the genuine care he showed to everyone around him, highlighted by his infectious smile.
As we honor his memory, we are comforted by the belief that Mesmin's spirit continues to live on, bringing peace and love in a new form. These words by bell hooks remind us of that continuing connection: "Death is not the end. It is simply a transformation, a movement into another form of being where the spirit continues."
