Online Obituaries Michael Babanikas, 81, of Norton, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Copley of Stoughton after a four and half year battle, after having a serious stroke. He was the husband of Katherine (Mallios) Babanikas. Born June 24, 1932 in Katerini, Greece, he was the son of the late Nicholas Babanikas and Katerina (Gimapetis) Babanikas. Mike came to the United States in 1956 and then married his wife Katherine. Mike was a Restaurateur for several years and was the owner of Mike's Pizza in Norton. He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton. In his younger years, Mike was a famous soccer player for the Greek National Team and had also played for the respected Makedonikos and Olympus Soccer Teams. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Nicholas H. Babanikas and his wife Georgia of Easton and Konstantinos J. Babanikas and his wife Camille of Easton; his five grandchildren, Michael N. Babanikas, Katerina M. Babanikas, Michael G. Babanikas, Katerina F. Babanikas and Nicholas J. Babanikas; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Calling hours will be held in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton on Thursday, February 20th from 9:00AM-11:00AM followed by a funeral service in the church at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
