IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael D.
Long
April 30, 1967 – October 21, 2022
Michael D. Long passed away peacefully at Beth Israel Hospital in Plymouth, with his family by his side, on October 21, 2022.
He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew and friend to many.
Michael was born in Brockton MA on April 30th, 1967 to Ann M. (LeMoine) Long, and the late Michael F. Long. Growing up in West Bridgewater, Michael was an altar boy, played on two championship youth league baseball teams, and rode his bike all over town with his friends! He spent his summers on Lewis Bay at the family summer home. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Hawaii, where he loved to surf.
Michael was a career bartender. In addition to making tasty cocktails, he often kept his patrons crying with laughter as he performed magic tricks or told jokes and stories, always leaving them wanting more. He was the life of the party wherever he went. He was an accomplished artist and a great cook. He loved to travel. He loved his dogs. He loved music, particularly reggae and rockabilly, and he was a natty dresser! He loved his family. Most of all, Michael loved the water. He always needed to be near it, in it, or on it. He was happiest when he was sailing, carefree, scudding across the waves. He was kind, he was generous, he was compassionate. After many years living in Falmouth, Michael recently moved to Bourne where he was working at Falmouth Toyota, a job he enjoyed.
Michael leaves behind his mother Ann M. Long of Bridgewater, daughter Jessica A. Long of Malden, son Levi D. Long of Raynham, sisters Jan E. Collins (Simon Ritt) of Somerville, Maura A. Long of Falmouth, Erin M. Long (Beth Fidellow) of Winchester, and Katie M. Kinney of Raynham, five grandchildren and four nieces and nephews. Michael is predeceased by his father, Michael (Mike) F. Long and his son Michael (Mikey) F. Long.
Cool runnings Michael, good vibes your way.
