Michael Mason, 68, of East Bridgewater, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at BayPointe Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton. He was the beloved husband of Sandra M. (Froio) Mason.
Born June 24, 1949 in Rockville, New York, he was the son of the late Rodney Mason and Ruth (Burbank) Mason. Raised in East Bridgewater, he graduated from East Bridgewater High School. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1967 to 1971.
Michael was a one of the four original Permanent Firefighters for the town of East Bridgewater. He served on the East Bridgewater Fire Department for over 22 years and retired in 1996 as a Lieutenant. He also served as a member of the District One Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team.
Michael was also a part-time Electrician and was a member of the Firefighters Union. He loved the ocean and boating. He served a life of honor.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra M. (Froio) Mason; his sons, Michael Mason and his wife Valerie of East Bridgewater, Derek Mason and his wife Tracy of Easton and Brett Mason and his wife Jennifer of East Bridgewater; his grandchildren, Jenavieve, Michael, Nicholas, Noah, Christopher, Lucas and Jacob; his brother, Peter Mason and his wife Pat of WA and the late Stephen Mason and his wife Kristine Mason of Bridgewater; his sister-in-law, Angela (Froio) Curley and her husband Jack of FL; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held in the Union Congregational Church, 105 Pleasant St., East Bridgewater on Wednesday, January 10th at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., (Rt28) West Bridgewater on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00PM.
