Muratore, Sr.
July 6, 1935 – October 30, 2024
Michael J. Muratore, Sr., of Bridgewater, passed peacefully on October 30th at Brockton Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Christine Quigley Muratore.
Born in Boston, MA on July 6th of 1935, Michael was the son of the late Elmer 'Bill' and Savina (Venuto) Muratore. He grew up in East Boston on East Eagle Street, the eldest of three siblings (Lorraine, Joseph and William) where he practiced accordion lessons and attended Boston Public schools.
Michael began his early working years as a shopkeeper at the famous Claus Gelotte Cameras, where he serviced all aspects of the photographic needs of their clientele, including those of the 'rich and famous' set who came to town on occasion including such luminaries as Jackie Gleason and Kim Novak. He went on to become a minor local celebrity at WFST AM in Caribou, Maine as an early rock and roll pioneer disc jockey. In the years following his radio stint, he settled down at Sears, Roebuck and Co. where he worked into his 80's; only retiring after Sears went out of business.
Aside from music, photography, painting and reading he also enjoyed travelling. His favorite vacation destinations were Hawaii and Italy.
He and Christine recently celebrated their 52nd anniversary on the 20th of October.
He is survived by his wife, Christine, his sons Michael Jr and wife Hilary, Mark and his wife Dianne and Mathew and his wife Kristin. He and Christine also parented a daughter, Carla, who passed shortly after birth. He is survived by his grandchildren Kerri, Meghan, Heather, Marc, Noelle, Robert, Alexis, Emma, Kenzie and Peyton. Also a half-grandson, Thomas. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Riley, Oliver and Grant.
Visiting hours are at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home; 441 South Main St., (Rt28), West Bridgewater on Saturday, November 9th from 8:45 AM until 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Church (103 Center St. in Bridgewater) at 10 AM. A private burial will take place at a later date.
