Michael Richard Pennucci, 86, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on January 4, 2026, in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Born on November 8, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts, Michael lived a full and dedicated life marked by hard work, and a sharp although sometimes inappropriate sense of humor.

Michael began his lifelong career in printing at small shops throughout Boston before joining The Boston Globe. There, he found his professional home and remained for four decades until his retirement. Even after retiring from the Globe,

Michael continued to stay active by working several part-time jobs, including a long stint at Sears, embodying the work ethic that defined much of his life.

Michael enlisted in the United States Army and shipped out on Christmas Day in 1960. After completing basic training, he was stationed in Orleans, France with a military police unit. It was there that he met Anne Ruby—the woman who would become his beloved wife of 52 years. They married in France during his service and returned to the United States together in 1964 following his discharge. Their bond was strong and enduring until Anne's passing in 2016.

Michael had a passion for classic cars and took particular pride in his mint condition 1954 Ford. He also enjoyed building model ships, coin collecting, photography, home improvement and spent many joyful hours doing puzzles with Anne—simple pleasures that brought him great contentment.

He is lovingly remembered by his son Garett, daughter-in-law Laura, grandchildren Kiera and Derek. Michael was predeceased by his wife Anne, brothers Louis, Alby, Tony, Joe, Johnny and sister Sylvia.

Michael's legacy is one of steadfast dedication—to his country, to his craft, and most importantly his family. His wit and fondness for a good blonde joke will be missed by all who knew him.
