Obituary

Michael L. Tarentino, age 77, of Raynham, passed away after a lengthy illness on November 1, 2023. He was the devoted husband of Kathleen (Meaney)Tarentino to whom he was married for 53 years. Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Ponze and June (Lincoln) Tarentino.

Mike graduated from Brockton High School, Class of 1964. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He spent 2 ½ years in Germany with the 3rd Armored Division as an Ordnance Specialist. He was honorably discharged in 1967. Growing up in Brockton, Mike played on a number of city sports teams and was also a catcher on a semi-pro fast-pitch softball team in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed all Boston sports teams and attended many sporting events.

Michael was employed by the Seagram Corporation for 32 years and Allied Domecq for 4 years as a Sales Promotion Manager and Merchandising Manager. He was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to many locations in the U.S. during his career. He also loved traveling with his wife Kathy and with his family and friends to many areas of the U.S.

Michael loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. The many family cookouts, parties, and holiday celebrations were always special to him. He also enjoyed attending the sporting events that his children and grandchildren participated in throughout the years. Michael was very sociable and could always be found carrying the conversation, no matter what the topic or occasion. He loved listening to music of all kinds and always enjoyed organizing the yearly Doo Wop concerts at Mohegan Sun with friends and their wives. Michael was an avid reader and was especially interested in keeping up with the latest news and current events.

In addition to his wife, Kathy, Michael is also survived by his son, Matthew Tarentino and his wife Samantha, their children Victoria, Olivia, and Zachary of Middleboro, his daughter, Katie Grifka and her husband, Jeffrey, and their children, Giuliana and Gabriella of Bristol, RI. He was the brother of Patricia Farland and her husband, the late Robert Farland, Judith Latham and her husband Richard Latham, all of Raynham. Michael is also survived by many in-laws: Richard and Karen Meaney, Paul Meaney, Barbara Holyoke, and Annemarie and Ed Jacobs. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Mariellen DeAndrade. Michael also leaves many nieces and nephews as well as long time close friends.

Mike and his family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Farber and his team at Tufts Medical Center as well as the staff at Vibra Hospital of Southern Massachusetts for all their care and compassion over the past three years.

Visitation will be held at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main Street West Bridgewater on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 4-7, pm. His funeral service will be from St. Ann's Church, 675 North Main Street, Raynham on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 10 a.m.followed by his interment at Melrose Cemetery, 88 North Pearl Street, Brockton.
