Obituary

Michel Marc Pierre

September 16, 1949 – January 13, 2026

Michel Marc Pierre, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on September 16, 1949, in Port Margot, Haiti. He was the oldest of twelve children, a role that shaped his strong presence, quiet leadership, and deep sense of responsibility to family.

Michel dedicated many years of service to various United Nations agencies like FAO, UNESCO, UNICEF, WFP, and UNDP, where his work allowed him to travel extensively throughout Haiti. Through these journeys, he developed a profound appreciation for his country, its people, and its culture. He retired in 2011, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and diligence.

A lover of music, soccer, and cars, Michel played the guitar in his younger years and carried a lifelong appreciation for meaningful songs. He especially valued music with depth and messages. and his most recent request was the song "Ou pa nan plas mwen," by VAYAB and pa anmedem by NU LOOK a reflection of his thoughtful and expressive spirit.

Though soft-spoken, Michel's presence was unmistakably strong. He was known for his humor and his warmth. He found joy in simple pleasures—sharing laughter, listening to music, and enjoying meals prepared with love, particularly his daughter-in-law Regine's organic, gluten-free recipes, which he appreciated greatly - because he knew she cared about his health and was taking great pains to keep him healthy. Once he moved to Massachusetts, he enjoyed most of all the laughter that came from family gatherings at the Luma Family home or when his nieces and nephews, Sarepta (Sasou) and Macken, visited him at his home.

Michel was married for over 43 years to his beloved wife, Anise Guerrier, with whom he built a life rooted in family and devotion. He was the proud father of two sons, Jean Claude Pierre (Regine), Mike Pierre (Nerlande), and one daughter, Yvrose Nevelus Fortinus (Andral). He was a loving grandfather to six cherished grandchildren: Rose Andie Fortinus and Anderse Fortinus. Mikael Jabez Pierre, Nathanael Pierre, Nakiera Joline Pierre, and Willow Pierre.

He leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife, his sons, daughter, and grandchildren; his sisters Marida and Magalie. His brothers, Joslin and Maxi Pierre and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were touched by his presence.

A funeral service celebrating Michel Marc Pierre's life will be held on January 30, 2026, at Norwood Church of God, Norwood, MA 02062.

Though he is no longer with us in body, his voice, laughter, music, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
