Mildred V. Tasho
Mildred V. (Kolunie) Tasho, 82, of Brockton, died peacefully Monday evening, January 14, 2008 at her home after a long illness. She was the wife of Nicholas Tasho of Brockton.
Born April 19, 1925 in Newcastle, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Kolunie and Julia (Samsuri) Kolunie.
Mildred moved to Brockton after her marriage and never left. She made lifelong friends and throughout her years, she savored everything the greater Boston area had to offer- Theater, ballet, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Fuller Museum, and her beloved Red Sox. She most enjoyed sharing her wonderful sense of style and love of the arts with her children, grandchildren, and in-laws as her family grew.
When her own children were small, there were lazy summers in Nantasket at the tiny family cottages, playing with the kids at the beach or tending her vegetable garden in the yard.
Mildred's gift was that she was happy and gracious wherever she was. She loved spending time in her home, decorating it with the utmost care or marveling at the foxes, birds, coyotes, or wild turkeys that visited her yard. She was happy traveling to exotic places or sewing a dress in the sunlight that came through her window. She sang in the kitchen, loved dinner at Doyle's with her husband Nick, or a Super Bowl party at Thorny Lea Golf Club, a quiet lunch with a friend, or a four-grandchild sleepover.
"Millie" was blessed with a loving nature, a generosity of spirit and a zest for life. She maintained her positive and hopeful attitude even in her final days. Always colorful and lovely, her ever-present smile brightened the lives of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Nicholas Tasho of Brockton; her children, Diane (Tasho) Prince and her husband Stephen of Brockton, Peter Tasho and his wife Jeannine of Easton; and David Tasho and his wife Ellen of Bridgewater; her brother, John E. Kolunie of Wareham; she is also survived by 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
