Nancy G. Barry, born to John Philip Barry and Rita (Cutting) Barry in June 1942 on the East Side of Brockton, passed away October 1, 2026.
She had been the poster child for the Boston Floating Hospital during her preschool years where she learned to walk with full leg braces at the time. Nancy attended Brockton Public and Wrentham State schools. During her adult years, she was employed as a housekeeper at the Sisters of Charity Facility in Wellsley Hills, MA. After retirement she returned to Brockton residing at Emmanuel House/Connemara, St. Josephs manor, and a Bamsi Medical Group Home where she enjoyed participating in the Vitra Adult Day Care Program.
Wherever Nancy lived her generous, genuine love of God's creatures and people. She befriended many friends (two-& four-legged, hair or feathered) in the residential settings over her 84 years. Her exuberant personality earned her the nickname “Fancy Nancy”. She loved all things bright, beautiful and bling.
Family and friends were often recipients of her crochet blankets/lap robes and hand-colored pictures. She enjoyed puzzles, word-findings, jokes, the Red Sox, but most of all Bingo with prizes.
Nancy was predeceased by her entire core family, her sister Jaye Ann Barry, “Step Dad” Ricco (Jake) Asci, cousins, Barbara Tirrell and Bruce McNevins and “brother” friend, Earl Lovell.
Surviving relatives are Pete and Alice Carlson, with sons Rick (plus Richmond) and Jon Carlson, Nancy’s cousins of the Tirrell Clan: Anita Asci, Brenda Hughes and Stacy Dubuis; cousins from the McNevins clan: Cheryl Simpson and Linda with their mom Audrey.
Being with family was most an important lifeline desire, especially when there was a party or prank. She was gratefully for family, friends and fun.
Nancy’s family appreciates your participation in the three parts of Nancy farewell wishes: 1. A time for viewing 2. A Funeral Mass 3. A Farewell Party with Food and Fun.
