Nancy L. O'Connell

Nancy L. O’Connell (Laney), age 78, of Norwell, passed away on August 4, 2026.

Born in Skowhegan Maine, she moved to Massachusetts as a child. She was the daughter of the late Dana and Corinne Laney (Ouelette).

She was a graduate of Brockton High School and went on to work in the shipping industry as an administrative assistant for various companies.

Nancy was a kind, deeply loving, and fiercely protective member of her family. She was a devoted caregiver to her mother, Corinne. She enjoyed knitting, loved animals, and especially cherished her beloved dog, Jenny. She spoke her mind, and those who knew her will remember her as a funny and caring person. Her passing leaves a deep sadness among family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Joseph O’Connell Jr. and his wife Susan O’Connell; two sisters, Pamela Melendy (Laney) and her husband Bruce; Brenda Daly (Laney) and her husband James; nieces and nephews, Betty Parker, Janelle O’Rourke, Margaret McCluskey, Brooke Ahl, Katie Bowman, Richard Laney; and many great-nieces & great-nephews.

There will be no visiting hours. A private family mass will be held at a later date.
