Service of Nicholas "Nick" Celia
Nicholas Vincent Celia, Jr., 76, of Brockton passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was the husband of the late Jerilyn (Mignault) Celia.
Born on September 16, 1944 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Nicholas V. Celia, Sr. and Fannie (Florio) Celia. A lifelong resident of Brockton, Nicholas graduated from Brockton High School in 1962 and went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree from Anna Maria College.
He worked for The Quincy Shipyards and in 1971 as a Brockton Police Officer where he served for 32 years.
Nicholas coached football for Brockton Pop Warner.
Nicholas, always the comedian, enjoyed gardening and yard work, cooking, golf, his grandchildren, and going to the casino. He was also well known for his presence on The Brockton Police Scanner, especially on Christmas Eve.
Nicholas is survived by his children Steven N. Celia and his wife Rita, Robert J. Celia and his wife Stacey; his grandchildren Anthony, Joseph, Megan and Matthew; his sister Michelle O'Shaughnessy and her husband David; as well as many cousins and friends. He was also the brother of the late Marie F. Celia.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 2nd in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt. 123) Brockton at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Calling hours in the funeral home on Sunday, August 1st from 3:00-7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brockton Police Department Relief Associates.
