Born September 11, 1931 in Brava, Cape Verde, she was the daughter of the late Manuel de Sousa Macedo and Kilda Vieira Martins de Macedo. She is survived by her 8 children, Maria C. Monteiro and her husband Durval of Brockton, Helder Varela and his wife Ondina of East Bridgewater, Carlos Varela and his wife Francisca of Brockton, Maria L. Amaral and her husband Artur of Brockton, Joāo O. Varela and his wife Adalgiza of Dighton, Antonio N. Varela of Bridgewater, Teresa Miranda and her husband Jose of Brockton and Joseph Varela of Brockton; her 12 grandchildren, Belisa Monteiro, Helio Monteiro, Lizete V. Baptista, Carlos Varela, Jr., Ulisses Varela, Arthur Amaral, Jr., Nilza A. Grassa, Jillian Varela, Anthony Varela, Lauren Varela, Kelly Miranda and Joey Miranda; her siblings, Alceu de Macedo, Palmira do Vale, Maria Fernanda Sister Fanduca and Eugenia Carvalhal; she is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joaquim de Macedo, Carlos de Macedo, Lourdes M. Almeida and Olavo de Macedo. Funeral Information A funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 30th at 9:00AM in St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
