Obituary

Online Obituaries Norma M. (Galante) Jantomaso, 83, of Brockton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 24, 2015 surrounded by her loving family after a period of failing health. She was the devoted wife of the late Louis G. Jantomaso for 59 years. Born January 4, 1932 in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late A. Michael Galante and Nina (Valente) Galante. A lifelong Brocktonian, she had very fond memories of growing up on Walnut Avenue and working for the Superior Baking Company in her youth. She graduated from Brockton High School in 1949, and went on to attend the Williams Business School in Brockton. Norma began working at the E.C. Hall Company, and in 1967 started her career in the Brockton Public Schools as a teachers aide at the Huntington School. She loved children and would often reminisce of her days at the Huntington, where she could be found on the playground with many students holding her hand during recess. She then began working at the Crosby Administration Building as a secretary in the Assistant Superintendents Office. Norma retired as secretary to Mayor of Brockton Carl Pitaro in 1990. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed watching all sports, but especially loved Ted Williams and the Boston Red Sox. Norma was a faithful communicant of St. Margaret Church in Brockton and St. Ann Parish in West Bridgewater throughout her life. She was very proud of her Italian-American heritage, and belonged to the Christopher Columbus Lodge #216, Twentieth Century Catholic Club, and the Womens Club of Brockton. However, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her adoring grandson, Matthew, of whom she had been so proud. Norma was the beloved mother of Michael L. Jantomaso and Lisa M. (Jantomaso) Cunningham, both of Brockton. She was the devoted grandmother of Matthew C. Cunningham, of Brockton. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Lucille (Jantomaso) LaFranchise (and Joseph), and Philomena Jantomaso. In addition, she leaves behind several close cousins, nieces, nephews, and many grand-nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Glenda (Galante) Augenti of Hollywood, FL.
