Obituary

Oscar Mercado, age 48 of Somerset, formerly of Brockton, died on June 12, 2020 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Oscar was born in Boston and raised in Brockton, a son of parents Ramonita (Bermudez) of Brockton and the late Nicolas Mercado.

He was a graduate of Brockton High School and wore #54 while playing on the school football team. Oscar was a master furniture refinisher and had worked for Jordan’s Furniture and Classic Furniture in Franklin.

Oscar enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball, riding motor cycles and watching sports on TV. He had a great personality and loved making people laugh.

Oscar is survived by his son, Oscar Mercado, Jr. of Taunton; his brothers Nicolas Mercado, Jr. of Texas and Santos Mercado of New Bedford.

Visitation with Covid-19 Phase 2 restrictions (a mask must be worn) will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton, Saturday, June 20, from 12-3pm. Burial will be private at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
