Paul J. Walkowski 86 years old of Brockton died Thursday October 15, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. He was the loving husband for 63 years of Lucy A. (Znarowski) Walkowski. Paul was born and raised in Boston a son of the late John and Mary (Sienkiewicz) Walkowski and moved to Brockton in 1957.
Paul left high school in 1940 at the age of 17 to join the US Marine Corps. He served with the 1st Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre and saw action in Guadalcanal, Peleliu and New Guinea. Following his military discharge he earned his high school diploma from Boston Technical High School .
Paul retired as a machinist at Cole-Hersee in South Boston after 42 years. In his retirement he worked part time at the Eastside Shaws in Brockton. He had been a longtime communicant of St. Colman Church and in his free time he enjoyed working around his yard.
He was the father of Gregory Walkowski and his wife Margherita of Taunton and the late Susan Mary Kyriakides. He is survived by 3 grandchildren Joshua Walkowski and Gabrielle and Michael Kyriakides and a great grandson Henry Serino. He was the brother of Mary Cicconi of Florida, Julie Walkowska of Brighton and the late Joseph Walkowsi, Sophie Cellucci, Cecelia Campbell, Euphemia “Ronnie” Gentelucci and Ann Snyder. He is also survived by his son-in-law Angelo Kyriakides of Brockton and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Sunday 4-7pm. Funeral Mass at
Christ The King Parish
