Pedro Pires Monteiro, 82, of Brockton passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the husband of Marie Lourdes (Montrond) Monteiro. Born on March 20, 1940 in Figueira-Pavao, Fogo, Cape Verde, he was the son of the late Sabino Pires Monteiro and Maria Vieira de Andrade. Pedro loved reading, especially the Bible. As a Jehovah's Witness, he loved preaching and sharing the Bible's message with others. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and music. He played the guitar and ukulele. He also enjoyed gardening. In addition to his wife, Marie (Luizinha), Pedro is survived by his children Laurindo Monteiro, Antonia R. Monteiro (Morgada), Antonio Monteiro (Tony) and fiancée Dulce Correia, Elisabeth M. Lackey (Liz) and her husband Nathan Lackey, Tamar Monteiro, Natanael Monteiro and his wife Sara Monteiro and Priscilla Fraga and her husband Nelio Fraga, Jr.; and his grandchildren Elise, Jonathan, Joshua, Adelle, Jace, Yannick, Noah, Jonah, Levi and Layla. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 1st in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 444 Plain St., Brockton at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 30th from 4:00-8:00 PM in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., Brockton.
