Peter M. Smith, 62, lifelong resident of Brockton, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a brief illness.
He was born on November 6, 1958 to Ann (DiNunno) Smith of West Bridgewater and the late Robert D. Smith. Peter graduated from Brockton High School class of 1976. He was the proud and loving father of Mathew and Andrew of Brockton and the love of his life, his granddaughter Lilly.
Peter retired from the Brockton Water Department and was a part time bartender.
He loved all Boston sports and his enthusiasm for the Kentucky Derby was overwhelmingly his favorite.
Peter was known for his sense of humor, quick wit, one liners and practical jokes. He was always there for his family and friends for whatever was needed, from his famous meatballs to handy work.
Family meant the most to him and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his sons, granddaughter and mother, he is survived by his siblings Dean and his wife Anne, Robert (retired Brockton Police Dept.) and his wife Cheryl and Kevin (Brockton School Police) and his wife Paula, all West Bridgewater, Deanna of Brockton, James (Hanover Police Dept.) and wife Lisa of Hanover and Patty of Brockton; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who all adored him. He is also survived by his former wife Laurie (Yourkewicz) Smith.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 20th at 1:00PM in the Russel & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St.,(Rt.123) Brockton. Private cremation will follow. Calling hours will be prior to the service on Tuesday from 10:00am to 1:00PM.
