Packard of Brockton, August 17, 2003, Philip W. Packard, 69years. Husband of Viola G. (Good) Packard. Father of Frederick E. Packard and his wife Laurie and Valerie I. Packard and her dear friend Frank Gazerro. Devoted grandfather of Trevor and Samantha Packard. Brother of Barbara Farnham and Helen Peaslee and her husband Hildreth. He was the brother of the late Herbert Packard and twin brother of the late Paul Edward Packard. Brother in law of John F. Good, Jr. and his wife Sandra, Dorothy A. Haskell and her husband Charles and Claire Packard.

Funeral Service in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) BrocktonWednesday at 11am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 1-4 & 6-9 pm.

Obituary Information

Philip W. Packard, age 69, died at home on Sunday, August 17, 2003, after a period of failing health. Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Frederick E. and Helen B. (McLeod) Packard. Philip was a life-long resident of Brockton and attended Brockton schools and the Bristol County Agricultural School. Philip was associated with his family’s business, Packard Farms, for many years. He was a driver for Phoenix Spring Beverage Trucking Company and owner operator of Philip W. Packard, Inc., a commercial rubbish business, and of F&P Trucking, Inc. In recent years he was employed by the Plymouth County Court System.

Philip enjoyed politics and was a strong supporter of his wife’s political career. He was a member of numerous local organizations including the Polish White Eagles, Ward 4 Improvement Association, Friends of the Brockton Council on Aging and Teamsters Local 653. Philip liked to travel, enjoyed camping, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.

Philip is survived by his wife of 47 years, former Ward 4 City Councilor Viola G. (Good) Packard; a son Frederick E. Packard and his wife Laurie of Brockton; a daughter Valerie I. Packard and her dear friend Frank Gazerro of Brockton, two devoted grandchildren, Trevor and Samantha Packard, two sisters, Barbara Farnham of East Bridgewater and Helen Peaslee and her husband Hildreth of Lakeville, brother-in-law of Claire Packard of Brockton, John F. Good, Jr. and his wife Sandra of Brockton, Dorothy A. Haskell and her husband Charles of Wareham, and many nieces and nephews.

He was a brother of the late Herbert Packard and twin brother of the late Paul Edward Packard.
