Thomas, of Brockton, July 7, 2004, Rachel L. Thomas, 20 years. Daughter of Richard A. III and Cheryl A. (Tinsley) Thomas. Sister of Cheryl Thomas of Boston, Richard A. Thomas IV, Tanaika, Aisha and Natashia Thomas all of Brockton.Funeral Service in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at a time to be announced. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8pm

Obituary Information

Rachel died unexpectedly Wednesday July 7, 2004 at Massachusetts General Hospital. Born in Boston, daughter of Richard A. III and Cheryl A. (Tinsley) Thomas. She was raised in Brockton, attended Brookfield Kindergarten, Raymond Elementary School, North Jr. High School, graduated from Brockton High School, class of 2002, and was currently a student at Bridgewater State College where she was working towards her degree to become a teacher, with a minor in graphic arts. She was granted the Rose Scholarship at Bridgewater State. While a student at Raymond, she won the decathlon in the 6th grade, and while a student at both North Jr. High and Brockton High she was a member of the soccer and track teams. Throughout her academic career she was a high honors student

She was currently employed at Kiddie Haven Day Care Center where she was a Teachers Assistant. During her high school years she worked on Saturdays at the Plouffe School teaching children to read.

She enjoyed photography, dancing, writing poetry, reading, writing and her cats. She won many first place prizes in poetry contests under the pen name “Vanity”. She was a member of the Future Teachers Club.

She is survived by her parents Richard A. III and Cheryl A. (Tinsley) Thomas, four sisters Cheryl Thomas of Boston, Tanaika, Aisha and Natashia Thomas all of Brockton and one brother Richard A. Thomas IV, her paternal grandparents Richard and Jacquelyn Thomas Jr. of Brockton, and maternal grandmother Liza Sanon of Boston, two great grandmothers Bertha Wilkins of North Carolina and Rosalie Thomas of Boston. She also leaves many aunts, uncles cousins and friends.
