Raymond Combs was born February 20, 1940 in Detroit Michigan to Henry and TC Combs. Raymond was called home May 11, 2018 after fighting the good fight. Raymond, A member of the U.S. Air Force. After his military career he relocated to Boston, MA. Ray then took on a career as an Accountant in various companies until he retired. Raymond was a headstrong, intelligent, no nonsense, caring, supportive, sensitive, loving Husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, brother in law & friend. He enjoyed sports, outside activities, such as bowling, baseball, horseshoes, fishing, grilling, along with family outings and gatherings for the holidays, parties and music. Ray was a dedicated member, along with his loving wife of The Messiah Baptist Church and a member of The Mens Fellowship choir for over 20 years. Raymond was (Ray, Mr.Combs. Uncle Ray, Pops and Granddaddy) The Man. By all accounts…. He would have babies and small children huddling close to him after a stern comment, such as "stop all that crying" or "what did I tell you" or do you need "Black Beauty". Raymond is survived by his wife of 58 years Rosa Combs. His children Derrick Combs (Cheryl), Rick Slayman and Chant'e Combs all of Massachusetts. His sister Ether Green-Johnson (James) of Michigan. His Grandchildren Anthony (Amber), Devon, Barry, Brandon, Brandi, Jamilia, Jammie, and Jamal. His Great Grands Davonte, Laila, Isaiah.C, Terrel, Saniyah, Jaela, Isaiah.B. Elijah, and Levi. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family. Raymond is preceded in death by his daughter Cassandra (Combs) Markland and his brothers Herman, Rudolph,Clarence, Wilbur and James and his sister's Eula, Dorothy and Ruth. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 4:00PM at the Messiah Baptist Church, 80 Legion Parkway, Brockton. Cremation will follow. Calling hours prior to the service in the church from 3:00 to 4:00PM.
