Raymond E. Yancey, Jr., known affectionately as Buzzy, passed away on May 18, 2024, in Milton, MA. Born on May 24, 1948 to Gladys (Springer) Yancey and Raymond E. Yancey, Sr., Ray was the youngest of three children.

Ray graduated from Jamaica Plain High School in 1966. In 1968, he began work at Blue Cross Blue Shield, rising quickly from Mail Clerk to Supervisor of the mail department. In 1969, he began his 30-plus year career at Sunoco Corporation, first as a driver and later as a dispatcher. After his retirement in 2003, Ray volunteered for a program where he assisted in reintroducing the formerly incarcerated back into the Brockton area. Most recently, Ray was working as a training specialist with MassHire where he assisted many residents of Brockton with finding employment.

Ray was an active member of his church Mount Moriah Baptist Church for almost 40 years. "Deacon Ray" served on many ministries and was passionate about his role as a servant of God.

Ray was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Ramona Frazier. His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family: his wife, Vanessa; his children, Christine (Gregory), Jason and Brandon (Natay); his 8 grandchildren, Dedra, Daryl (Kiara), Jania, Jayah, Jeremiah, Corde, Aaron and Ava; his 10 great-grandchildren, Jayden, Sa'Rai, Jaleel, Jaylen, Daryl III ("DJ"), Kadence, Kaden, Dawn, Kimora and Kimayah; his sister, Pamela; and his two nieces, Alicia and Pammi Rae.

Visitation in the Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Pleasant St. Brockton, on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 from 10:00AM-12:00PM. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation in the Church at 12:00PM.
